Management Studies

OBJECTIVES

The Faculty of Management Studies offers various courses for students to impart the key concepts of management and its applications in an organization. Apart from the basic courses of management like BBA and MBA, the department has also designed some major courses such as Ph.D. (Management), MBA in Logistics, and Supply Chain Management. Our professional courses emphasize on the combination of core business subjects and skill courses which lead to the holistic development of the students.

Our aim is to provide and maintain an emphasis on the continuous improvement of programs and services. We conduct regular guest lecture series too. It facilitates foreign educational tours for the faculty members and students.

INFRASTRUCTURE

University facilitates teaching through modern tools and techniques. Our university contains smart classrooms with Wi-Fi enabled LCD projectors, tutorial rooms, library, a seminar room and a fully air conditioned auditorium with seating capacity of over 500 persons. The University takes pride in being a differently- abled friendly campus with new ramps, lifts and special washrooms added to the building. Also, the university has various facilities to address the reading, hearing and understanding requirements of various students. The University is endowed with a huge parking facility (available to both students and faculty), sports complex and playgrounds. A complete smoke and vehicle free zone, of the University provides an eco-friendly environment to its students with the latest initiatives of solar heating, rainwater harvesting, paper recycling and other green initiatives. The University has taken measures to address the need for vigilance and security. The campus is CCTV-enabled to cater to the safety requirements of the students.

 

RESEARCH PROJECTS

  1. Students undertake skill development, research projects, and short-term courses as extra value addition in their degree program. The students receive guidance from our esteemed faculty members as and when required. The students, under the supervision of various faculty members carry out various extracurricular activities to develop their overall personality. Some value-added certificate courses of NPTEL, NSE and BSE further enhance the personality of the students.
  2. Centre for social research and managerial skill development: The Department of Management Studies and Research along with the students conduct research and carry out consultancy services in various sectors of Management, Social studies and Interdisciplinary matters too. Topics included in our research arena are – leadership skill measurement, cross-cultural issues, competency mapping, balanced scorecard, the study of inflation, and economic surveys. We also conduct case study development workshops on:-

Students’ Research and Skill Development Association: The department has an active research association of the students through which the students get involved in various research and project-related activities. The students learn to prepare research proposals and final reports under the guidance of highly qualified faculty members. They also represent the department outside the university in various academic and non-academic activities.  In most cases, they have proved themselves to be successful. They represent the university in various sports and cultural activities as well.

  • We have been coordinating and promoting University as local chapter Center of NPTEL under the mentorship of IITM and IITK since 2016 and managing 8 TB data (video and audio) for all trades of the University.
  • We conduct skilled trainings on banking and risk management with TATA capital Orissa as the knowledge partner.

  • Organized foreign educational tours for students and faculty members from Dec 2-4 in 2017 in Bangkok, Thailand.
  • Organized foreign education tour for students in 2019 in Malaysia.
  • Kausik Mukherjee became a member of the editorial board by K.I.T.ES. Education for Yuva Innovator Challenge 2021.
  • Kausik Mukherjee became a member of the International Social Science and Management Welfare Association for one year in July 2021.
  • Shinu Shuka presented a research paper entitled ‘Instagram: the new online window for impulse behavior of consumers in the International Journal of modernization in engineering and technology and science’.
